Union Rescue Mission Praise

Thank you all who joined us this past Saturday at the Union Rescue Mission.

What a great testimony of the lavish love of our God.

By preparing, serving and sharing this meal with the residents at Union Rescue Mission we became a sweet offering unto God.

Thank you for your generous time and gifts!

Look ahead for our next opportunity to share next quarter!

We will be serving dinner at the Union Station Foundation Family Center, which is a homeless shelter for men, single mothers and children that is about a five minute drive from Fuller.

We need your help, and there are a couple of ways that you can contribute.

You can join us at the Fuller “Elbow” Saturday April 12^th at 4:30PM, and we’ll drive to Union Station and prepare the food. Or, you can come at 6:30PM and help us serve the dinner. After we clean up, we should return back to Fuller no later than 8:30PM. Please prayerfully consider how you might be able to give of your time to help those who are less fortunate than you and me.

Week 6 Chapel

This week at chapel we will have a special guest speaker, Vernon Broyles. Rev. Broyles is a PC(USA) pastor who is currently working in the office of the stated clerk of the General Assembly as an advisor on social policies and mission. Both Rev. Broyles and his father were pastors in Alabama during the civil rights movement. Together they led congregations in opposing segregation, and in affirming an integrated society and church. Rev. Broyles is not only committed to social witness but also to the historic confession of the Church of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

In addition to speaking in chapel, Rev. Broyles will be speaking in Ron Kernaghan’s class, Presbyterian History and Programs from 11-12:50 in Psych 120 and you are welcome to attend.

Finally, if you are interested in having time with Rev. Broyles in a small group setting you may sign up for a time to spend time with him during the afternoon hours on Monday. Sign up sheets will be available at chapel.

At chapel Rev. Broyles will be speaking on 2 Kings 6:8-23. The title of the talk will be “Evidence of Things Not Seen,” and he will talk specifically about how to be a pastor and lead a congregation in social witness to the larger culture.

Usually we are able to leave in time for folks with class @ 6:30.

Join us tomorrow night as we serve the needy in our Pasadena community!

We'll be cooking and serving dinner to approximately 40 women and children who are temporary residents at Union Station in Pasadena. We'll need folks to help cook, serve, and clean up. Even if you're not comfortable interacting with others, you can come and "work behind the scenes!"

Bill Young & Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship

This Monday (Nov. 4) we will welcome Bill Young to our Presbyterian community.

Bill is currently the President of Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship. Before taking this position he was the director of International Evangelism for the World Wide Ministries division of the PCUSA. He has served as a missionary in Africa and as a church planter.

Bill is a Fuller alum and visits us once or twice a year to talk with students who are interested in missions or new church develoopment.

After chapel Bill will be available to meet with folks who are interested in talking about missions, church planting or what is happening in the PCUSA. We will have a brown bag session in Barker Commons from noon to about 1:30 pm, and he is available for appointsments throughout the afternoon. Please let us know if you would like some time with Bill.
